Second Best Dad Ever*

Have you heard of Buzzfeed?  I'm pretty obsessed with it. It's my favorite way to take time out from work duties and catch up on completely useless information, whether it's 90s nostalgia, cute animals, or random celebrity news. The other day there was a link about "Awesome Father Daughter Portraits." I clicked on it and giggled for the next 5 or 10 minutes.

When his daughter, Alice Bee, was born, Dave Engledow wanted to document her life in a creative way and did so by creating father-daughter portraits that are a far cry from the Sears portrait studio pictures that I'm sure adorned most of our walls growing up.  Here are some of my favorites.

This looks like such a fun family and such a wonderful father-daughter relationship. I only hope that when Paul and I have kids we will have this much fun together.

Check out all of Dave's other photos here.

*My dad takes the title of best, obviously!

  1. I've seen this series -- So creative and funny!

Of course, I'm 13 months behind on Maile's baby book. For me to have the presence of mind to accomplish something like this ... the thought is outlandish, LOL.

    1. I also really like Jason Lee's pictures, but I think I like these more because the dad is in the pictures with his kid.

I'm amazed that the parent of a toddler could accomplish this. I think it's amazing enough that you make it through each day alive!

  2. These are SO cute! There was something on the news the other day about the phenomenon of parent's feeling pressured to take outstanding pictures on their kids - especially on the 1st day of school - because of the internet. This guy brought it to a whole 'nother level.

    1. One of my favorite bloggers was saying before her son's birthday that she felt all this pressure to make it beautiful and blog-worthy. A lot of people apparently tore into her about it, but it's so true. It's hard to stick to a store-bought Happy Birthday banner and party hats when you see some of the amazing parties that some people create.

As for this guy, I could never hope to do anything on this level. Taking a picture on the first day of school with a chalkboard? I can replicate that. The stuff this guy does? No way!

    1. The last time I saw it she had stopped posted because people were stealing her pictures, but I love them! I can't believe she had the time and energy to do that!
